INFORMATION ABOUT MEMBERSHIP:
The Métis Nation of British Columbia (MNBC) will informed us that your application was processed, and your genealogy validated and verified by the Central Registry.
You have to meet two of the three factors in Métis identification of which all must be met for gaining Métis Citizenship:
1. Self-identification
2. Ancestral connection to the historic Métis community
As your residence falls within the catchment of our Métis community we will accept you as a member of the North Fraser Métis Association, thus providing you with the third factor in Métis identification: Contemporary Métis community acceptance.
The NFMA is one of seven Chartered communities within region 2 of the MNBC. We are a large group, in terms of both membership and geography. We are working hard to provide a strong, healthy governance and cultural awareness for Métis people.
More information on the Chartered Métis communities within the MNBC is located on the MNBC website at http://www.mnbc.ca/chartered-communities.
Our office is currently located at 204 -204 Sixth St, New Westminster, BC. V3L 3A1.
